Advancing Neurological Care Together

Join us in our mission to uncover innovative treatments through clinical research for neurological health.

The UCSF Division of Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology is dedicated to advancing excellence in patient care, training, and research in multiple sclerosis and other neuroinflammatory conditions. Through our premier fellowship programs and interdisciplinary clinical teams, we prepare future leaders in MS and neuroimmunology while delivering personalized, comprehensive care to both adult and pediatric patients. Our faculty are nationally recognized experts driving innovation in clinical practice and research, with a strong focus on developing new diagnostics and therapies. We strive to support our diverse patient population with compassionate care, access to cutting-edge clinical trials, and a commitment to improving quality of life for individuals affected by these neuroinflammatory conditions.

The success of our clinic is grounded in a culture of leadership that unites clinical care, research, and education with a shared sense of purpose. By fostering mentorship, collaboration, and innovation, we create an environment where faculty, staff, and trainees are empowered to grow and contribute. This commitment to leadership ensures that we continue advancing care, strengthening our community, and preparing future physicians and scientists to meet the evolving challenges of neuroinflammatory disease.

Our clinic provides outstanding, unparalleled, world-class, patient-centered care for people with a wide range of conditions. The individualized, evidence-based, and compassionate care our team provides is sustained by a culture of innovation, creativity, and quality and systems improvement. The clinic team also aims to provide patients with seamless access to transformative scientific discoveries and opportunities for interested patients to participate in discovery and contribute to the translation of knowledge.

The UCSF Division of Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology has a premier training program that offers clinical and post-doctoral fellows the opportunity to further hone their expertise in the scientific and clinical tools needed to better understand and treat multiple sclerosis and a broad range of neuroinflammatory conditions.  Graduates of our program help to shape the future of our field locally and globally, and our goal is to continue training excellent and compassionate physicians and scientists for many years to come.

The research in the division is tasked with translating foundational scientific discoveries into patient care. We are a dedicated group of scientists and clinicians that are passionate about contributing to the understanding of the pathophysiology of neuroinflammatory disorders, the role of immune and glial cells that reside and/or infiltrate into the nervous system and the potential treatments that can only be achieved through innovative approaches and a collaborative spirit
